New pain

So, yesterday after fifteen miles the IT band in my left leg was so tight I was hobbling. It sucked, and I didnt' know what I was going to do. I was running through Claremont, CA in the downtown area when I noticed a place called Sportspros, a personal training facility.

I walked in, asked for help...and an hour later was set for an appointment with a guy named Guillermo for something called a STIM, which meant stimulation massage.

Shut up.

Basically, this guy was going to be rubbing and kneeding the tension out of my IT band, which was going to be horrible but much needed. Now, I'd not actually met the fella yet. I had no idea what he looked like. I rested until the appointment at two, and walked in to see this dude:

He was a little less greasy and a lot less banana hammock-y, but still...Jesus. A bodybuilder was about to use all of his considerable strength to work the life back into my IT band...by kicking its ass.

Jessica, the documentarian, smelled an opportunity to see me cry, so she made sure she was front and center for the show.

Whatever I thought pain was previously, it was erased and replaced by what Guillermo did to my leg. He used the bone in his forearm to press and drag along my thigh, and then pressed down with all of his weight using his elbows and dragged, slowly.

I didn't cry, or scream...but only because I was pulling my own hair/trying not to pass out/concentrating on not barfing.

It was so intense near the end that I literally couldn't see anymore. Everything was just white.

That said...I sure as hell felt better in the morning. Buying a foam roller so I can do what he did to me to myself.

Shut up.

No offense to the foam roller, but I'm thinking it's not gonna do the same "Dustin-almost-spewed" job on you that Guillermo did; also thinking it's not gonna be able to rock the banana hammock like Guillermo did either.

    I'm just saying.
